A 29-year-old man who was missing was saved after he was heard calling for help from an underground septic tank in a rural area of Texas, officials said.
On Friday, August 8, around 9 a.m., deputies were sent to check on someone at a home on N. Terry Road in Edinburg, according to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office.
The person who called said their uncle had not gone to daycare that morning and hadn’t been seen since 9 p.m. the night before.

Worried about the man’s safety, the deputy was allowed to search the property.
While calling out the man’s name, the deputy heard a faint voice coming from under the ground, asking for help, the sheriff’s office said.
The deputy then found the man trapped under a tire inside a septic tank.
Firefighters from the Edinburg Fire Department were called to help. They said the man had fallen through a small opening into the septic tank.

The firefighters cut through concrete and used special rescue tools to safely pull him out.
The man was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Officials said he is now doing well. The sheriff’s office is still investigating what happened.
