Zoë Kravitz might think twice before visiting her friend Taylor Swift’s house again!
On Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday, Aug. 12, Kravitz, 36, shared a funny and slightly stressful story about staying at Swift’s home during the Los Angeles fires. Swift, 35, had offered her and her mom, Lisa Bonet, a place to stay. But things got tricky when Bonet’s pet snake came along.
“My mom has a pet snake, so she brought it with her,” Kravitz explained. “We had to stay there for about two weeks because of the fires.”
Kravitz said she wanted to be a careful guest. “Taylor’s house is from the ’30s and very beautiful. I wanted to make sure we didn’t cause any trouble,” she said.
The trouble began on the last day of their stay. Kravitz was packing up when her mom called with a problem.
“She said, ‘I’m in a little bit of a pickle, can you come upstairs?’ She was crouched in the bathroom corner. Apparently, while washing her face, she put Orpheus, the snake, down for a moment… and it found a little hole in the corner,” Kravitz recalled.
The snake had slithered into a hole near a built-in storage unit in Swift’s bathroom. Kravitz tried to grab it, but it kept moving deeper into the wall.
“I was panicking,” Kravitz admitted. “I even called the house manager, who brought a crowbar to help get the snake out.”

In the end, the bathroom was heavily damaged. “We ripped up tiles, scratched walls… completely destroyed Taylor’s bathroom,” Kravitz said. She added that she offered to pay for the repairs and to keep it a secret until it was fixed.
Kravitz later told Swift, who responded with a laugh: “Is it the fact that you almost lost a snake in the house and destroyed my bathroom?”
Despite the snake incident, Kravitz and Swift remain close friends. The pair grew closer during the pandemic in London, and Kravitz even attended Swift’s Eras Tour in London in August 2024.
