Melania Trump wrote a rare letter calling for peace in Ukraine and asked her husband, President Donald Trump, to personally deliver it to Russian President Vladimir Putin during their Friday meeting in Alaska.

The letter did not directly mention Ukraine, which Russia invaded in 2022, but it urged Putin to think about children and “an innocence which stands above geography, government, and ideology.” Melania did not go into details about the war, but she told Putin that he had the power to “singlehandedly restore” the “melodic laughter” of children suffering from the conflict.

“In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone — you serve humanity itself,” she wrote on White House stationery.

The letter was first obtained by Fox News Digital and later shared on social media by supporters of the U.S. president, including Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Melania Trump also said that Putin could bring hope to these children with just the stroke of a pen.

Since the start of the war, Russia has taken Ukrainian children out of their country to raise them as Russian. In 2022, The Associated Press reported on these actions, which led the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for Putin, accusing him of being personally responsible for the abduction of children from Ukraine.
