A woman turned to Reddit to vent about her bridesmaids, saying they’ve been “stressing” her out and “ruining the wedding planning process” with their lack of effort.
In her post, the bride explained that she has known all three bridesmaids for over ten years, with one friendship going back to childhood.
“We’ve been talking and dreaming about getting married since we were kids. We even made Pinterest boards together, planning our future weddings,” she wrote. “We were all so excited to be in each other’s bridal parties, and now that it’s actually happening, it feels like they couldn’t care less.”
With less than five weeks until the wedding, the bride said none of her friends even have dresses. She had tried to give them freedom by suggesting a general color palette and fabric, but nothing happened.
“I thought maybe the choice was overwhelming, so I started giving more direction,” she said. “I made mood boards and sent them link after link of suggestions. They clearly weren’t looking themselves. We even agreed on one dress, but then they stopped replying in the group chat.”

She said their delay has eliminated many options as the date gets closer.
“I’ve said so many times, just please sort out the dresses because that’s what’s really stressing me out. They’ve already cut out so many choices since there isn’t enough time for delivery or alterations.”
The bride admitted she had imagined the process would be a fun bonding experience with her closest friends, but it hasn’t turned out that way.
Beyond the dress issue, she decided not to plan a bachelorette party or bridal shower because she knew she would end up doing all the work herself. She also noted this isn’t the first time her friends have acted this way—when she was pregnant, they pulled away even though they’d claimed they were excited to be “aunts” to her baby.

She ended her post by saying the situation is draining the joy out of wedding planning and asked Reddit users for advice on how to deal with friends who “seem so uninterested in their wedding.”
“I’m trying not to let this sour the whole wedding, but it’s hard,” she wrote.
