Former White House lawyer Ty Cobb, who previously served under President Donald Trump, said the country made its “biggest mistake” by re-electing Trump in the 2024 presidential election. His remarks came during an appearance on CBS’s Face the Nation, where he also sharply criticized the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey.
Cobb’s Criticism of Trump and the Comey Indictment
On CBS, Cobb argued that Trump pushed for Comey’s indictment because the former FBI director had investigated possible ties between Trump and Russia during the 2016 election. Cobb claimed Trump orchestrated the charges as part of a broader effort to distort the historical record.
“The simple theme is rewriting history. Trump wants to rewrite history so the next generation may not know that he incited a violent insurrection, refused to peacefully transfer power after losing an election,” Cobb told host Margaret Brennan.
“America needs to learn from the mistakes that we’ve had. And one of the biggest mistakes that America ever had was re-electing President Trump,” he added.
Former FBI director James Comey was indicted on September 26.
