The adult Giants fan who was filmed seemingly swiping Patrick Mahomes’ headband from a young boy is speaking out after being dubbed the “Kansas City Karen” online.

After the Kansas City Chiefs’ win over the New York Giants on Sunday, Sept. 21, at MetLife Stadium, quarterback Mahomes, 30, appeared to hand his game-worn headband to a young fan dressed in Chiefs gear.

In a viral video shared on social media, Nina Miller, wearing Giants apparel, can be seen taking the headband from the boy.

On Saturday, Sept. 27, Miller addressed the backlash on TikTok, claiming that everyone “is having heart failure over this.” She explained that fans from all rows were pushing to reach the front, emphasizing that she “paid for” her tickets and “didn’t know” if the boy she took the headband from was “from the nosebleeds.”

Users were quick to criticize her in the comments. One wrote, “You literally snatched it out of the kid’s hand. You really think Patrick would give his head band [sic] to a grown a– giants fan over a kid? Let’s be realistic.”

On Sept. 28, Miller posted another TikTok to further explain her actions.

“I just want to talk to you guys for one minute from my heart,” she said. “At the game, with all the noise and all the excitement, I honestly thought that Pat Mahomes was giving me the headband. I reached for it without thinking.”

Miller later learned that the headband “was meant for that little boy for his 10 year-old birthday,” and said she “felt horrible” about the incident.

“I don’t want to ruin anyone’s little time at the game,” she added.

Apologizing directly to the boy, Miller said, “I’m sorry that I ruined your moment. You should have had your moment for your birthday,” and asked the internet to help her connect with the boy’s family so she could mail him the souvenir.

However, her apology was met with skepticism from some fans. The top-liked comment on her post reads, “‘I’m sorry I got caught,'” while another, “She felt horrible cause she’s getting dragged all over social media,” has been liked more than four thousand times.
