Woman Snaps at Passenger Who Refuses to Move Feet Off Her Seat on Long-Haul Flight

A traveler turned to Reddit after a tense exchange with the passenger seated behind her on an international flight, asking whether she crossed a line when the situation finally boiled over.

“I was recently on an 8 hr flight from the Middle East to London,” she wrote. “The woman behind me had her feet, shoes and all, propped up on the back of my seat, wedged into the narrow gap between the window and the seat.”

At first she tried to be polite. “The first time I tried to address it, I just pointed to her feet and said, ‘Excuse me?’ ” she recalled. Instead of moving them, the other passenger snapped back: “She immediately said, ‘What?? WHATT??’ in a really rude tone,” which left the poster too stunned to respond.

The feet stayed there for hours. “After about 4 hours of this, I’d had enough,” she explained. “I stood up on my seat, turned around, and told her to move her feet.”

That escalated into an argument. “She started arguing with me, but this time I raised my voice,” the poster admitted — she felt pushed to her limit after a long day of travel. She added that she’d already been traveling more than six hours from Asia before the flight and had a massive headache; she was also worried her hair might touch the other passenger’s shoes whenever she tried to sleep.

Eventually the woman behind her — apparently surprised by the pushback — removed her feet after her partner, who had been laughing earlier, told her to do so.

Having resolved the immediate issue, the poster asked the forum, “AITA for raising my voice and insisting she move her feet after hours of putting up with it?”

Reddit users were quick to support her. “Oh wow. NTA. This is disgusting,” one commenter wrote, adding that a flight attendant could have handled it if she’d reported it sooner. Another expressed shared exasperation with entitled behavior and said they would have rung the call button after a single polite request. One commenter responded angrily enough to joke about pouring a drink on the person’s feet if staff didn’t intervene.

Overall, the community mostly reassured the poster that her reaction was understandable given the circumstances and the length of time she had tolerated the intrusion.
