Brandy is speaking out after suddenly leaving the stage during her joint concert with Monica over the weekend.
The 46-year-old singer addressed the incident in an Oct. 19 Instagram post, a day after walking offstage mid-performance during The Boy Is Mine Tour stop in Chicago.
“Thank you all for the overwhelming love, support, and — most importantly — your prayers,” Brandy began.
“I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last night’s performance in Chicago. After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint. Everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance,” she continued.
Brandy said she attempted to return to the stage despite not feeling well. “I still made the decision to try and return and give it my all despite not feeling okay. With having to make some adjustments and the show being very technical, unfortunately, it was impossible to fully connect sonically with the production. I really appreciate everyone’s best efforts,” she wrote.

Brandy had been performing with Monica, 44, when she left the stage and did not return. Monica continued performing solo, and the show ended without the pair singing their hit track, “The Boy Is Mine.”
Thanking Monica for her professionalism, Brandy added, “I’m deeply grateful to my sister, Monica, for stepping up with such grace and professionalism, and to the entire crew for their continued care and support. I went from the arena to see a doctor nearby and have taken the proper precautions to help moving forward.”
She closed her message with gratitude toward fans: “Your understanding, patience, and unwavering belief mean the world to me. I look forward to returning to the stage — stronger and more grateful than ever — alongside my girl, Monica, tonight in Indianapolis.”
Monica later reshared Brandy’s post on her own Instagram Stories.

Videos from the concert showed Brandy pausing mid-performance and saying, “Give me one second, y’all. I gotta get my …” before walking offstage. She did not return, and the audience received no immediate explanation.
Earlier this year, the two R&B icons announced their joint tour, marking more than two decades since their 1998 chart-topping collaboration. “I see it as so much bigger than just a hit record,” Brandy told Essence earlier this month.
“At the time, it was two young women coming together, bringing our voices and our stories into one moment — and the world connected with it in a way we couldn’t have imagined,” she added. “To see how that song connected with people all over the world — and still does — is such a blessing.”
