Police in Madison, Wisconsin, are searching for Morgan Geyser, one of the two girls involved in the 2014 Slender Man-inspired stabbing, after she reportedly went missing.
According to a statement from the Madison Police Department shared on Facebook on Sunday, Nov. 23, Geyser, now 22, left her group home in Madison and removed her Department of Corrections monitoring bracelet.
Authorities say she was last seen Saturday, Nov. 22, around 8 p.m. in the Kroncke Drive area with an adult acquaintance. Her current whereabouts are unknown, and police were notified of her disappearance on Sunday morning. The department has asked anyone who spots her to call 911.
Geyser and Anissa Weier were 12 years old when they attacked their classmate, Payton Leutner, during a sleepover in a Milwaukee-area suburb in 2014. The two lured Leutner into nearby woods while playing hide-and-seek, and Geyser stabbed her 19 times as Weier encouraged her.

Leutner survived and was found after crawling to a nearby bike path, where a passerby helped her get aid.
Investigators said at the time that Geyser and Weier believed they were acting to please Slender Man — a fictional horror figure that emerged online in 2009 and is typically described as a tall, thin man with supernatural powers.
Both girls were charged with first-degree intentional homicide and tried as adults. Each was ultimately found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect and committed to psychiatric facilities.

In January, roughly 11 years after the attack, a judge approved Geyser’s release from psychiatric care following expert testimony that she had made significant progress. She was placed in a group home under Wisconsin Department of Health Services supervision as a condition of that release. Weier was released in 2021 after spending nearly four years in the same facility.
