Donald Trump is pitching a new label for his supporters — and once again flirting with the idea of running for a third term for president, even though the U.S. Constitution bars it.
On Saturday, Nov. 29, the 79-year-old president shared an AI-generated image of himself on Truth Social, where he was depicted holding a campaign sign that read, “TRUMP 2028, YES!”
He captioned the post with a single word: “TRUMPLICANS!”
The message came just days after he first floated a “new” name for his supporters in a separate Truth Social post.
“There is a new word for a TRUMP REPUBLICAN, which is almost everyone (GREAT POLICY IS THE KEY!),” he wrote on Wednesday, Nov. 26. “It is, TEPUBLICAN??? Or, TPUBLICAN???”
Trump’s latest nod toward a hypothetical 2028 run is only the most recent time he has publicly entertained the idea of a third term, despite the two-term limit enshrined in the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution.
Although he cannot legally seek a third term, he has suggested in the past that there might be unspecified “methods” to pursue it, and has previously sold “Trump 2028” hats as campaign-style merchandise.
Asked in March during a phone interview with NBC News about the possibility of a third-term bid, Trump said, “A lot of people want me to do it.”

“But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration,” he continued, later adding, “I’m not joking. But I’m not — it is far too early to think about it.”
More recently, Trump has appeared to acknowledge that, under the law, a 2028 campaign would not be allowed.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One in South Korea on Oct. 29, he pointed to the U.S. Constitution, saying it was “pretty clear” he could not run again, according to Reuters and The Guardian.
“I’m not allowed to run. It’s too bad,” he told reporters.
He then cited the 22nd Amendment, which states: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.”
“Based on what I read, I guess I’m not allowed to run,” Trump added. “So we’ll see what happens.”
