A former Jeopardy! winner has been arrested on two counts of felony secret peeping after authorities say he secretly installed a camera inside a victim’s home.
Philip Joseph “Joey” DeSena, 42, is accused of placing a device capable of recording images in a victim’s bedroom and bathroom, according to an arrest warrant filed by the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office.
The Nov. 26 warrant alleges that DeSena “unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously” and “secretly or surreptitiously” installed a camera in those areas “with the intent to capture the image of another without their consent.” The alleged incident took place on Oct. 10.
DeSena, a resident of Raleigh, N.C., was arrested on Dec. 1.
According to NJ.com, DeSena, a development engineer, won Jeopardy! twice in November 2024, earning $44,698. He later returned for the Champions Wildcard Tournament in January to compete for a spot in the Tournament of Champions, but the outlet reports he was eliminated in the semi-finals.
A $5,000 bond was posted on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 10. DeSena’s attorney could not be reached for comment.
