Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested more than 100 Iranian nationals across the United States over the past week, according to a Fox News report. The arrests come amid growing concerns among federal officials about potential Iranian sleeper cells operating within U.S. borders.
Authorities have raised the alarm that some individuals linked to terrorism may have entered the country through what they describe as unsecured borders.
Attorney General Pam Bondi addressed Congress earlier this week, revealing that 1,500 Iranians in the U.S. illegally have been apprehended so far. “That is something I would like to discuss further in a classified setting,” Bondi said. “But yes, have they invaded our country? Absolutely.”
Bondi praised the Trump administration’s approach, stating, “We will not be intimidated, and we will keep America safe thanks to the leadership of President Trump.”
Fox News reports that 130 Iranian nationals were arrested in just the past seven days, bringing the total number of Iranian detainees in ICE custody to 670. These actions are part of a broader Trump-era crackdown aimed at tightening immigration enforcement amid heightened national security fears.
Tom Homan, the administration’s border czar, sharply criticized the previous administration’s immigration policies in a Fox News appearance. “You can’t believe that out of the more than 2 million who crossed our borders, not one came here to do us harm,” Homan said. “That should scare the hell out of everybody.”
Federal officials have not disclosed whether any of those arrested have confirmed ties to terrorist networks but have emphasized that investigations are ongoing.
