President Donald Trump said Friday that his doctors have declared him to be in “perfect health,” adding that he once again “aced” a cognitive examination.
It remains unclear when Trump underwent his most recent physical exam, though U.S. presidents typically complete an annual wellness check at the start of January. Trump had two physicals in 2025, conducted in April and October.
“The White House Doctors have just reported that I am in ‘PERFECT HEALTH,’ and that I ‘ACED’ (Meaning, was correct on 100% of the questions asked!), for the third straight time, my Cognitive Examination, something which no other President, or previous Vice President, was willing to take,” Trump wrote early Friday in a Truth Social post.
He added that he believes anyone running for president or vice president should be required to take a comprehensive cognitive exam, arguing that the country cannot be led by what he described as “stupid” or incompetent people.
Questions about Trump’s health have intensified in recent months after he appeared at several public events with visible bruising on his hand and swelling in his legs. Political opponents have also raised concerns about the 79-year-old’s mental acuity.
Trump previously said he underwent an MRI during his October physical, though neither he nor his medical team initially specified what prompted the advanced imaging. Physician to the President Sean Barbabella said at the time that Trump received the scan because men in his age group benefit from detailed evaluations of cardiovascular and abdominal health.
However, Trump told The Wall Street Journal in an interview Thursday that he actually received a CT scan, not an MRI. Barbabella later confirmed in a statement that a CT scan was performed during the October exam.
“As part of that examination, we asked the President if he would undergo advanced imaging — either an MRI or CT scan — to definitively rule out any cardiovascular issues,” Barbabella said.
“The President agreed, and our team of consultants performed a CT scan. As we revealed in the post-examination report, the advanced imaging was perfectly normal and revealed absolutely no abnormalities.”
