Fox News host Jesse Watters opened a segment about the death of Renee Nicole Good by focusing on her sexuality and the pronouns she used online.
During a Wednesday, Jan. 7 broadcast, Watters described Good primarily through her relationships and her social media presence.
“The woman who lost her life was a self-proclaimed poet from Colorado with pronouns in her bio. A 37-year-old White woman named Renee Good,” he said. “The Daily Mail says she leaves behind a lesbian partner and a child from a previous marriage.”
He continued by suggesting Good was misrepresenting her role at the scene.
“She was a disruptor, though she considered herself a legal observer. But there’s no evidence she had a law degree.”
Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent on Wednesday during an immigration enforcement operation. ICE had recently begun large-scale raids in Minneapolis as President Donald Trump and his administration continued to criticize Somali immigrants living in the area.
Good’s mother, Donna Ganger, confirmed her daughter’s death to The Minnesota Star Tribune, but rejected claims that Good was involved in any coordinated anti-ICE effort that the Trump administration has sought to link her to.
“She was probably terrified,” Ganger said of the incident, describing her daughter as “one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.”
Ganger added that her daughter devoted much of her life to caring for others.
“She was extremely compassionate. She’s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving and affectionate. She was an amazing human being,” she said.
City Council Member Jason Chavez said the 37-year-old mother was a U.S. citizen and “an observer … watching out for our immigrant neighbors,” ABC News reported.
ABC News reported that Good suffered gunshot wounds to the head, citing city officials. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the outlet.

The Star Tribune reported that Good was previously married to Timmy Ray Macklin Jr., who died at age 36 in 2023. His father, Timmy Ray Macklin Sr., told the outlet he was stunned by the news and said his son and Good shared a 6-year-old child who has now lost both parents.
“There’s nobody else in his life,” Macklin Sr. said of his grandson. “I’ll drive. I’ll fly. To come and get my grandchild.”
According to The Associated Press, Good’s 6-year-old was from her second marriage. AP also reported that she had two older children, ages 12 and 15, from her first marriage.
After Good’s death, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem alleged that Good had been “stalking and impeding” ICE agents and accused her of “domestic terrorism.”
DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin also claimed in a statement that the driver had “weaponized her vehicle,” alleging she attempted to run over officers “in an attempt to kill them.”
McLaughlin said the ICE agent who shot Good feared for his life, the lives of other officers, and the safety of the public.
Trump, 79, blamed the political left in a post on Truth Social, saying video showed Good was “very disorderly, obstructing and resisting,” and claimed she “violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense.”
He added that such incidents occur because the “Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis.”
On social media, Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz disputed the administration’s characterization, retweeting a DHS statement and writing: “I’ve seen the video. Don’t believe this propaganda machine. The state will ensure there is a full, fair, and expeditious investigation to ensure accountability and justice.”
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey on Wednesday called for ICE to leave the city.
“We’ve dreaded this moment since the early stages of this ICE presence in Minneapolis,” Frey said at a Wednesday press conference. “This was a federal agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying.”
He then added: “Get the f— out of Minneapolis,” telling the agency, “We do not want you here. Your stated purpose for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, but you are doing exactly the opposite.”
