Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones are weighing in on the alleged tension inside the Beckham family.

During the Tuesday, Jan. 20 episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, the co-hosts discussed Brooklyn Beckham’s recent remarks about his strained relationship with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham.

“Yesterday afternoon in a 6-page Instagram story post, [Brooklyn] wrote in part, ‘I do not want to reconcile with my family,’” Bush Hager said.

Brooklyn’s post accused his parents of manipulating press narratives and undermining his marriage to Nicola Peltz Beckham. He also described multiple moments where he claimed his family tried to damage his relationship—pointing to his 2022 wedding and his father’s 50th birthday celebration last year.

Brooklyn and Nicola have notably been absent from recent Beckham family gatherings—holidays and events that, according to Brooklyn, are deeply important to his family. In the post, he claimed his parents prioritize “public promotion and endorsements above all else … Brand Beckham comes first. Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo.”

A representative for David, 50, and Victoria, 51, did not respond to a request for comment.

Bush Hager and Jones both spoke from a parent’s perspective, defending David and Victoria while questioning Brooklyn’s decision to air the dispute so publicly.

“I’m almost nice to a fault,” Jones said. “But in this case, I actually feel like it’s not nice of [Brooklyn]. I don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes. I don’t care if it’s true or not. But at the end of the day, to put your parents’ laundry out there… we don’t need to know whatever’s happening.”

Jones also noted that David and Victoria played a major role in helping Brooklyn reach his current position in life and career.

“You are where you are because of the work that they’ve done. Maybe I’m speaking as a mom,” Jones said, adding that Victoria has been “doing the best you can.”

Bush Hager said the situation feels especially “hypocritical,” arguing that publicly criticizing his parents on social media clashes with the image-focused world Brooklyn says he resents.

“That’s the part that feels sort of hypocritical,” Bush Hager said, adding that David and Victoria must be “heartbroken” reading the posts.

“Whether it’s true or not, it’s just… do we need to know about it?” Jones said. “In the 26 years I’ve been in this business, I don’t think I’ve ever given an opinion, and this is the first time where I’m like, ‘I’m Team Mom.’”

“I have a soft spot for parents because it’s not easy,” Jones added.
