A 35-year-old Missouri woman who vanished last week while reportedly on her way to pick up her children has been found dead after what officials believe was an accidental traffic crash.

The Miller County Coroner’s Office said in a news release that emergency crews responded early Monday, Feb. 2, to a motor vehicle collision on U.S. 54 near Howser Road, where Amanda Rodgers was found.

“Ms. Rodgers’ vehicle was located off the roadway and concealed by a fallen tree, making it difficult to observe from the roadway,” the coroner’s office said. “The vehicle was discovered by a Miller County Sheriff’s Office deputy who was actively searching the area.”

Officials added that they do not suspect foul play or any suspicious circumstances, saying the incident appears to have been an accidental crash.

Rodgers had been the subject of an endangered person advisory issued by the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, according to a Saturday, Jan. 31, alert from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Authorities said Rodgers went missing on Jan. 26 after leaving the Eldon area to pick up her children in the Camdenton area — but she never arrived.

At the time, the sheriff’s office said she was driving a 2003 tan Chevrolet Malibu.

The coroner’s office said it is investigating the death alongside the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

“Out of respect for the family, no further details will be released at this time,” the coroner’s statement said.

“The Miller County Coroner’s Office extends its deepest condolences to Ms. Rodgers’ family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the statement concluded.
