Investigators searching for Today show host Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, announced new developments in the case, including that they have recovered “several items of evidence.”
In a statement released Thursday, Feb. 12, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office said investigators recovered multiple pieces of evidence, including gloves. Officials added that, as part of the investigative process, all viable evidence is submitted for analysis.
Authorities are also asking residents near Nancy’s Catalina Foothills home to review and share doorbell-camera footage from two time windows: Jan. 11 between 9 p.m. and midnight local time, and Jan. 31 between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.—the morning before Nancy was abducted. In their request to neighbors, officials noted that a “suspicious vehicle” had been seen in the area.
On Wednesday, Feb. 11, the sheriff’s department said investigators are still operating on the belief that Nancy is alive.
Nancy was reported missing Feb. 1, prompting a large-scale search. Investigators have said they believe she was taken against her will. A trail of blood was found on the front steps of her home, and authorities confirmed it matched her DNA.
Officials say the suspected kidnapper or kidnappers sent alleged ransom notes to several media outlets, setting an initial deadline of 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, followed by a second deadline of 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9. On Saturday, Feb. 7, Savannah and her siblings shared an emotional video on Instagram, saying, “We will pay.”
A possible break came Tuesday, Feb. 10, when authorities released surveillance photos and video of what they described as an armed individual on Nancy’s front porch. The footage shows a person wearing a ski mask, a zip-up jacket and gloves, carrying a backpack, as they approach the house. One video posted to social media appears to show the person tampering with the Nest camera at the front door.

In an Instagram post sharing the footage, Savannah wrote, “Someone out there recognizes him. We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.”
Savannah has been in Arizona with her family as they wait for answers about Nancy.
