Donald Trump is continuing to do things his way.
A new report says the president plans to change the long-standing color scheme of Air Force One, which has remained largely the same since the Kennedy administration.
The aircraft currently features a palette of white, light blue, and a darker blue. Under the reported update, it would shift to a combination of red, white, dark blue, and gold.
The report also says the vice president’s plane would be repainted, along with the jet Trump was gifted from Qatar.
Trump had pursued a redesign during his first term, but the plan was later canceled under President Joe Biden.
Reaction online was mixed. Some users criticized the change as an unnecessary expense and said the administration should focus on other priorities.
Others supported the idea, arguing the current look feels dated and that the revised palette would be more in line with the colors of the U.S. flag.
Trump has a history of putting his personal stamp on high-profile institutions and spaces. In recent months, he has drawn criticism for efforts to rename the Kennedy Center to include his own name, a move that prompted backlash from members of the Kennedy family.
Maria Shriver wrote on social media that the center was named to honor President John F. Kennedy’s commitment to the arts, culture, and education, and said it was unacceptable to add a sitting president’s name to that memorial.
