LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A barrage of gunfire echoed through a southwest Las Vegas neighborhood early Wednesday morning, leaving one man dead and residents shaken.

Las Vegas Metro Police say they began receiving 911 calls around 12:38 a.m. reporting rapid gunfire near West Patrick Lane and South Cimarron Road. One caller told dispatchers that someone had been shot inside a garage.

When officers arrived at a home on Coja Street, located within a gated community, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite officers’ efforts to perform life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Lt. Steve Riback, surveillance footage showed a white Dodge Charger with a black front bumper circling the neighborhood multiple times before the shooting.

“The vehicle eventually stopped in front of a home. Several individuals got out, and shortly after, more than 30 rounds were fired,” Riback said during a briefing.

Investigators are working to determine how many suspects were involved and what led to the deadly encounter. Police believe the shooting was a targeted attack and do not think there is a broader threat to the community.

The investigation remains ongoing.
