WASHINGTON — Backstreet Boys singer Brian Littrell has filed a lawsuit against Walton County, Florida, accusing the sheriff’s department of refusing to take action against trespassers on his private Gulf Coast beach property.

In the suit, Littrell claims his limited liability company, BLB Beach Hut LLC, has made repeated efforts to deter trespassers—posting “no trespassing” signs and placing furniture to mark property boundaries. Despite these steps, he says his family continues to be harassed by individuals who “regularly, every day, trespass on BLB’s beach… in open defiance of the law.”

The lawsuit, obtained by Fox News Digital, seeks a writ of mandamus, compelling the sheriff’s office to enforce trespassing laws on his property.

“These individuals have antagonized, bullied and harassed the Littrell family,” the complaint states. “Efforts to protect our peaceful enjoyment of the property have been in vain.”

Deputies Allegedly Decline to Enforce the Law

Littrell says he has even filed an official Trespass Authorization Form with the sheriff’s department—allowing deputies to warn and prosecute intruders. Still, he alleges, law enforcement has declined to intervene.

The complaint cites an incident on May 4, when a deputy reportedly spoke with an alleged trespasser but declined to take action. According to the suit, the deputy dismissed the issue, allegedly stating the individual “doesn’t agree with private beaches,” and referred to the situation as “lunacy.”

On June 5, a trespasser reportedly grabbed legal documents from Littrell’s property manager and scattered them across the sand. Littrell says the sheriff’s office was contacted three times, but no deputy was dispatched, and the 911 operator eventually hung up during the third call.

“Despite numerous requests and submission of required forms, the sheriff has refused to remove or charge the trespassers—or take any action at all,” the lawsuit says.

Littrell also claims he’s had to hire private security to protect his family and property.

Claims of Hostility and Inaction by Sheriff’s Office

The lawsuit accuses deputies of publicly mocking Littrell’s requests for enforcement, with officers allegedly overheard saying the sheriff is “proud” of not citing anyone for trespassing.

In one instance, a trespasser reportedly damaged a table on Littrell’s property after being warned by a BLB employee. While a deputy did arrive, the lawsuit claims no action was taken, and bodycam footage allegedly shows disrespectful behavior by the responding officer toward BLB representatives.

“These are unprecedented times,” the lawsuit warns. “If the sheriff continues to refuse to protect BLB and others, then private property rights in Florida may only exist on paper.”

Littrell Speaks Out

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Littrell explained his family’s original intent in purchasing the Gulf-front property.

“We bought a home here on this private beach to vacation in peace—without attention or drama,” he said. “We didn’t know there was a long-running battle over this beach.”

Littrell claims the trespassers are not locals and deliberately bypass other public beaches to access his private land.

“These people don’t live here. They’re targeting us because they believe success is something to be punished.”

He expressed frustration that local law enforcement has refused to act, despite his compliance with all legal requirements.

“We’ve done everything they asked. And still, the sheriff’s department refuses to do their job. They were sworn to uphold the law and protect citizens—and they’ve chosen not to.”

Sheriff’s Office Responds

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office declined to comment on the pending litigation but said in a statement:

“Our department prides itself on handling every situation and interaction with professionalism and a customer service approach. That philosophy remains unchanged.”
