An undocumented immigrant was arrested Friday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Peace Bridge in New York — but it was his choice of clothing that drew attention online.

CBP posted about the arrest on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting that the man was wearing a T-shirt featuring the American flag. The agency mocked him in the post, writing: “Nice shirt! But it doesn’t erase the fact that you entered the country illegally.”

The man, whose identity was not disclosed, also has a prior criminal record that includes multiple DUI offenses and a misdemeanor assault charge, CBP added. “Criminal illegal aliens have no place in the U.S.,” the agency concluded.

The arrest comes as President Donald Trump ramps up immigration enforcement, particularly in major cities like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. In a recent Truth Social post, Trump said, “I have directed my entire Administration to put every resource possible behind this effort.”

The administration is currently pursuing a dual-track approach: accelerating arrests and deportations of undocumented immigrants with criminal histories, while also launching programs to encourage voluntary self-deportation.

One such initiative is the newly launched CBP Home app, which allows undocumented migrants to notify authorities of their intent to leave the U.S. voluntarily — avoiding detention and arrest. Eligible individuals are also offered help booking flights and may qualify for a $1,000 exit incentive.

Just last week, CBP detained 361 undocumented migrants during raids at two marijuana farms in Southern California, according to the New York Post.
