Thirty years ago, Trevor Goodall welcomed his twin boys into the world. But the joy quickly turned to heartbreak when Joshua and Samuel died after being born three months early.
Since their passing in 1995, Trevor, a father from Marlborough, England, has dedicated his life to helping other families. He launched the New Life charity in memory of his sons, raising more than £2 million (about $2.7 million), according to the BBC, which recently interviewed him after he was nominated for the BBC’s Make a Difference Awards.
“They gave me the spirit to keep going. And I’ll never stop wanting to do wonderful things for others in their name,” Trevor told the outlet. “To have reached this milestone is unbelievable — it’s just fantastic.”
In June, on the 30th anniversary of the twins’ passing, New Life shared photos of Joshua and Samuel on Instagram, along with a tribute to their father.
“@trevnewlife19 you are a hero and this weekend we celebrate everything that has been achieved 🙌🏼,” the post read. “The charity has now raised over £2 MILLION pounds to date, which has since changed so many little lives 👶🏼.”
The message ended by honoring the boys’ memory: “It is this charity that inspired our founder and many others to make a difference 🙌🏼. What a proud moment whilst we remember these little lives 🌍. What a legacy for two little boys 💙 🩵.”
The BBC also reported that £800,000 (around $1.1 million) has gone to Great Western Hospital in Swindon, where the twins were born. Funds have provided incubators, ventilators, respirators, breast pumps, and other lifesaving neonatal equipment. An infant feeding room was also built in the children’s emergency unit.
Trevor says his mission is simple: “If I can help even one family not go through what I went through, then that’s a big help.
