Anti-Trump Protests Erupt Across United States on Fourth of July

As the United States celebrated its 249th birthday on Friday, July 4, thousands of citizens took to the streets in cities across the country—not just to honor the nation’s founding, but to protest President Donald Trump’s administration and its controversial policies.

Demonstrators rallied against a range of actions taken since Trump’s return to office in January, including sweeping ICE immigration raids, aggressive deportation efforts, the bombing of Iranian nuclear sites, and what many view as a growing abuse of federal power.

The protests also coincided with Trump’s signing of the widely debated “Big, Beautiful Bill,” which slashes funding for Medicaid and SNAP while significantly increasing resources for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The new budget makes ICE better-funded than all other federal law enforcement agencies and outspends the militaries of most nations.

This year’s Independence Day demonstrations follow the “No Kings” protests held on June 14—Trump’s 79th birthday—when thousands turned out during his military parade in Washington, D.C., to condemn policies they see as authoritarian, especially regarding immigration and civil liberties.

From coast to coast, July 4th protestors marched with signs, chanted slogans, and called for justice and accountability. Here’s a look at some of the most striking images captured during this day of patriotic dissent.
