Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is calling for President Donald Trump’s impeachment following U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, arguing that the military action was taken without congressional approval and violated the Constitution.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ocasio-Cortez said, “He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.”

The strikes targeted Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan nuclear sites. Fordow, located deep within a mountain, has long been viewed as a key facility in Iran’s nuclear program.

President Trump confirmed the operation in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, writing:

“The U.S. completed a very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors… NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!”

The operation has sparked debate across party lines. While Ocasio-Cortez condemned the strike as unconstitutional, fellow Democrat Sen. John Fetterman supported the president’s decision.

“Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and cannot have nuclear capabilities,” Fetterman said. “I’m grateful for and salute the finest military in the world.”

Fetterman, a vocal supporter of Israel, has frequently broken with progressive members of his party over U.S. policy toward Iran and the Middle East.

The airstrikes mark a major escalation in the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, and the political fallout in Washington is already beginning to take shape.
