Authorities in Pennsylvania have arrested a man in connection with the disappearance of Kada Scott, who was allegedly being harassed before she went missing earlier this month.

Keon King, 21, was taken into custody on Wednesday, Oct. 15, the Philadelphia Police Department confirmed.

Scott was last seen on the evening of Oct. 4, leaving the assisted living facility where she worked, according to a police statement. Investigators said she had been receiving harassing phone calls in the days before she disappeared.

At a press conference Wednesday, Philadelphia Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski said King was the last person in contact with Scott before her cell phone activity and social media posts stopped.

Authorities also released photos of a vehicle of interest. Toczylowski said at the briefing — livestreamed by 6ABC — that investigators believe King is connected to the vehicle and that Scott may have been inside it.

Toczylowski declined to comment on whether King is linked to the harassing phone calls.

Earlier this year, King faced separate charges of kidnapping and strangulation in an unrelated case, but those were later withdrawn when the alleged victim did not appear in court, Toczylowski said. She added that authorities believe the alleged offenses form a “pattern” of behavior and that prosecutors are refiling those charges.

King is also facing a charge of recklessly endangering another person in connection with Scott’s disappearance. Court records for King were not immediately available, and Toczylowski said he was still being processed Wednesday afternoon.

The case was recently handed over to the homicide unit, though investigators said it is not currently being treated as a homicide. The FBI is assisting in the ongoing investigation, according to CBS News and FOX 29.

Scott’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for “credible information that leads directly to Kada’s safe recovery.”

“Every dollar raised strengthens our ability to bring her home and encourages anyone with information to come forward,” her family wrote on the fundraiser page. “This effort is dedicated to raising awareness, supporting search efforts, and ensuring that no lead goes unheard.”
