A bride shared on Reddit’s “Wedding Drama” forum that her special day was spoiled when the best man ruined her wedding dress — and never apologized.
She explained that while she knew weddings aren’t perfect, the accident still “stings.” “Every time I think about the day, I remember that moment, and it overshadows what should have been the happiest night of my life,” she wrote.
The reception started off well, but things took a turn about an hour in. The groom’s best man, a longtime friend, had been enjoying the open bar a little too much. His speech quickly became embarrassing as he slurred through “a bunch of college stories” instead of focusing on the couple’s marriage.

At first, the guests laughed politely, but as the stories got worse, the room went quiet. The bride recalled, “I could feel my face burning. Eventually, my husband had to gently take the microphone from him before it went completely off the rails.”
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of it. Later in the night, the best man tried to hug the bride to congratulate her. But as he stumbled over the edge of the dance floor, he spilled an entire pint of beer down the front of her white gown.
“It soaked through the lace bodice and part of the skirt,” she wrote. Guests gasped as she stood frozen, trying not to cry.
Her bridesmaids and maid of honor rushed her to the bathroom, where they spent nearly half an hour trying to blot out the stain. While they managed to make it “look less obvious,” the marks were still visible in photos — and the smell of beer lingered all night.
The bride said her husband felt awful and apologized repeatedly for his friend’s behavior. But what upset her most was that the best man never once said sorry. Instead, the only message he sent afterward was: “Hope you had fun last night lol.”

Commenters on Reddit were quick to criticize the best man. Some said the groom should insist his friend pay for the dress cleaning, while others argued he should have demanded an apology.
The bride later shared that her husband did confront his friend the next day, but the best man brushed it off as if it wasn’t a big deal. “At this point, I’m just distancing myself. I’m not looking to start a back-and-forth with him, I just needed to vent about how frustrating it was,” she said.
