A 13-year-old boy has died after a crash involving an electric dirt bike in Stoneham, Massachusetts.
According to a media release from the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. local time on Friday, Nov. 21, in the town about 11 miles north of Boston.
Investigators say preliminary information indicates that a 73-year-old driver in a Toyota Corolla was making a left turn on a residential street when the teen, riding an electric dirt bike, struck the vehicle.
The boy — whose name has not been made public — was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The District Attorney’s Office said the case remains under investigation, working alongside the Stoneham Police Department and Massachusetts State Police.

On Saturday, friends gathered near the crash site to leave flowers and remember him, CBS News reported.
“I can’t believe he’s already gone. He was only 13. Nothing like that should ever happen to a 13-year-old, never in the world,” said Georgie Travis, a friend of the boy, in an interview with CBS News.
Another friend described him as energetic and adventurous. “He was a great kid. He had so much potential. It’s actually tragic that he’s gone,” he said. “He loved doing tricks on his bike and hanging out with his friends. He just loved being outside and being active.”
Vasily Gatov, a neighbor who lives near the crash site, told NBC 10 that the loss has shaken the whole street.
“That was devastating for everybody,” Gatov said. “I understand … the family of the kid is completely devastated, but I mean everybody else, the whole street was here out and everybody was shaking.”
