Cheryl Hines recently reflected on her visit to The View and admitted she left feeling let down by the experience.
The 60-year-old actress appeared on the ABC talk show on Tuesday, Oct. 14, to promote her new book Unscripted. During the segment, she faced questions about her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and his relationship with former President Donald Trump.
For the Curb Your Enthusiasm star, the focus of the conversation didn’t go the way she expected.
“You know, I was actually hoping that it was going to be more personal on The View,” Hines said on the Hot Mics with Billy Bush podcast. “But it was what it was.”
She explained that the hosts — Sunny Hostin, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin — “just wanted to grill me about Bobby.”
Podcast host Billy Bush then asked if she can “tell when someone hasn’t read your book,” and Hines replied, “Yes.”
“I mean, I don’t think the ladies on The View asked me one question about my book,” she added. “But, you know, that’s okay.”

During her appearance, Hines mentioned that she’s “not been a political person” and called her husband’s decision to end his presidential campaign and endorse Trump “very difficult.”
“At the end of the day, President Trump and Bobby sat down and talked, and yes, they did have a lot of common goals,” she said.
“I was guarded about it,” Hines continued, describing the move as a “leap of faith,” noting that Kennedy was a Democrat when they met in 2006. “It was complicated, right? Because that is a big change politically.”
The actress also touched on her husband’s stance on vaccines, saying that Kennedy, 71, and Trump, 79, “both want access to vaccines.”
Hines has continued to publicly support Kennedy as he transitions into his new role. She attended his Senate confirmation hearing in January and recently said she feels “very connected” to his “Make America Healthy Again” initiative.
