A man who co-hosts a podcast exploring the “occult, magick, spirituality, and everything clandestine” has been charged with allegedly murdering his girlfriend.

On Friday, Aug. 22, Tobias Marcus Nuttall of Brigadoon, Australia, appeared at Perth Magistrates Court, accused of killing his 30-year-old partner at a Bassendean home on Wednesday, according to ABC News, News.com, and 7 News.

During the court appearance, Nuttall spoke only to confirm his name. He will remain in custody until his next hearing, scheduled for Sept. 17 at Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court.

Nuttall, 32, was arrested at a residence on Reid St. after police responded to a serious incident around 12:30 p.m. local time on Wednesday, Aug. 20, according to News.com. Officers found a woman suffering from stab wounds.

The woman was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital in critical condition and later died from her injuries, the outlet reported.

Police and forensic teams remained at the scene on Thursday as the investigation continued, 7 News reported.

Western Australia Police Force and Perth Magistrates Court did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Friday, Aug. 22.

Before launching the Waking World podcast with co-host Dale, Nuttall graduated from the University of Notre Dame, according to 7 News and News.com, which cited his social media accounts. He later worked for a recruitment company based in New South Wales.

According to the podcast’s summary on Spotify, it’s a space “Where Reality Gets a Reality Check.”

Dale addressed Nuttall’s arrest during Friday’s episode, revealing his own uncertainty about continuing the conspiracy theories podcast.

“It’s nothing to do with whether we’ve fallen out, it’s much worse than that,” Dale said. “Toby has been charged, or is being charged today, with a very, very serious offense over in Perth, something that happened on Wednesday.

“I know very little detail about it,” he added. “I feel like I want to share something because it’s gonna come out in the news.”
