Costco Recall Update: Nationwide Warnings Include Life-Threatening Risks

Costco, one of the biggest warehouse retailers in the U.S., has announced several new nationwide product recalls. Some of these recalls come with warnings that they could be life-threatening.

The recalls involve both food and household items, impacting Costco customers across the country.

Why This Matters

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says that unsafe consumer products and foodborne illness outbreaks remain major causes of preventable hospital visits and injuries.

Recent Costco Recalls

July 25 – Pura Diffusers
Pura has announced a voluntary fix for certain Pura 4™ diffusers. The company found that magnets inside the front cover might detach over time. If swallowed, these magnets could cause serious health problems, especially for children or pets.

Pura is offering free replacement covers. Until then, customers should remove the current cover and keep the diffuser out of reach of kids and animals.

To see if your diffuser is part of the recall and request a replacement, visit pura.com/pages/productrecall or contact Pura at 855-394-5292 or replacement@pura.com.

July 21 – Bestway Aboveground Pools
Bestway, with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, recalled certain Power Steel, Steel Pro, and Coleman Power Steel pools sold between 2008 and 2024. The recall covers 48-inch or taller models with external compression straps. Children could use the straps as steps to climb into the pool without supervision, creating a drowning risk.

Customers can check if their pool is affected by looking at the strap placement and visiting bestwayusa.com/recall-and-safety to get a free repair kit. Until repaired, pool access should be limited. For help, call 844-593-4003 or email BWrecallsupport5516@sedgwick.com.

July 21 – Intex Aboveground Pools
Intex Recreation recalled some aboveground pools, 48 inches and taller, sold between 2002 and 2012. Like the Bestway models, these pools also had external compression straps that children could use to climb in. The recall affects 48″ and 52″ Metal Frame and Ultra Frame pools, including certain Costco models. Pools made after 2013 are not affected since they use internal straps.

Customers should visit Intexcorp.com/recall or call 1-800-549-8829 to check their pool and request a free repair kit. Intex also recommends following the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Pool Safely guidelines to prevent accidents.

July 10 – RITZ Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches
Mondelēz Global recalled some 40-count cartons of RITZ Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches sold at select Costco Warehouses and Business Centers between June 2 and July 9, 2025.

The issue: while the cartons were correctly labeled with a peanut allergen warning, some packs inside were mislabeled as the cheese variety. This could be dangerous for people with peanut allergies.

The recalled packs have “Best When Used By” dates between November 1, 2025, and January 22, 2026, printed on the top of the package. Customers with peanut allergies should not eat them and can return them to Costco for a full refund. Questions can be directed to Mondelēz at 1-844-366-1171 (available 24/7).
