A New York couple was arrested in Miami after allegedly smoking marijuana inside a parked car with a 2-year-old boy inside.
Phillip Fraisar, 36, and Kasey Renee Buckmann, 27, were taken into custody on Sunday, Aug. 31, according to court records obtained by PEOPLE. Both face one count of child abuse, though no physical harm was reported.
Buckmann was also charged with possession of marijuana. Fraisar faces an additional charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm, after a 2015 New York conviction for criminal possession of a weapon, according to Local 10 News.
Around 9:20 p.m., a passerby reported seeing the couple smoking marijuana and drinking tequila in a parked car with Fraisar’s toddler in the backseat, Local 10 News reports. When police arrived, Fraisar had left the vehicle, but Buckmann and the child were still inside.
“The marijuana smoke filled the vehicle, as is commonly referred to as hot-boxing,” the Miami Police Department said, per the outlet.
Authorities claim that when Fraisar returned, he and Buckmann had a pistol in the glove box and a “large clear bag of marijuana” under the driver’s seat, according to Local 10 News. The couple was arrested outside the Clevelander Hotel in Miami.
Fraisar was held on a $1,000 bond and has since been released. Buckmann was also released, according to court records.
Both are scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 9 a.m.
A representative for the Miami Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for more information on Wednesday.
