A 29-year-old man was killed in a head-on crash in California and is being remembered as a devoted father who loved his family more than anything.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said in a news release shared with PEOPLE that the crash happened on Sunday evening, Sept. 14, on State Route 59 south of Washington Road in Merced County.
According to a preliminary investigation, the CHP reported that a car driven by Susana Esquivel, 28, of Atwater, was going south on State Route 59 when it suddenly crossed the broken center line. It collided with a vehicle driven by Tyler Alexander Jackson of San Jose, who was traveling northbound.
Both Alexander and Esquivel were pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP added. There were no other passengers in either car, and authorities said the crash is under investigation.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover Jackson’s funeral expenses.
“He was a loved father, son, fiancé, brother, and friend,” the GoFundMe organizer wrote. “He brought so much love and light into our lives. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”
The tribute said Alexander leaves behind his parents, Tracy Ricks and Elloyd Jackson, as well as his brothers and sisters, who shared in his laughter, dreams, and life journey.
“Tyler was a devoted father, a loving partner, and a man whose greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his fiancée Jennifer Torres and his two children, Carter Lloyd and Kimora Amour Jackson,” the organizer added. “Though his time with us feels far too short, the love he poured into his family will live on through his children.
