A 59-year-old father from a Chicago suburb has been missing for two weeks, and his family is begging the community to help bring him home.

Daniel “Dan” Davis, of Merrionette Park, was last seen by people who know him early in the morning on Thursday, Nov. 25, as he left the bar where he has worked for nearly 25 years.

Since then, although he has not returned home or to work, his daughter Wendy Davis told NBC affiliate WMAQ that her father has been spotted “going through people’s yards, cutting through alleys,” and has even approached a few people to ask for directions back to his workplace.

“We have like 10 different videos of him walking around pretty disoriented,” Wendy said.

Officials have issued an endangered missing person alert, and Dan’s family is asking neighbors and local residents to stay alert and report any possible sightings.

“This ongoing search for my dad has been a two-week-long roller coaster that still has yet to actually feel real,” Wendy said in a statement. “My dad would never believe just how many people have joined together for him.”

“We are doing everything you can think of — canvassing with flyers, checking cameras, talking to kind strangers, and making a whole lot of noise, that’s for sure,” she continued. “We need the community to continue to spread the word and check their cameras. Giving up is not an option.”

The ordeal began around 11:15 p.m. local time on Monday, Nov. 24, when Dan was involved in a car accident and declined medical treatment, according to WMAQ and Patch.

Per a Cook County Sheriff’s Office accident report, neither driver was suspected of impaired driving, and Dan was believed to have sustained a head injury, Patch reported.

Family members told the outlet that after his car was towed, an officer from the sheriff’s department drove Dan to his place of work.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office has not responded to a request for additional comment.

By 1:15 a.m. the following morning, Dan was last seen leaving 115 Bourbon Street, wearing a black baseball hat, a black Harley Davidson jacket, a red sweatshirt and black jeans, according to a Nov. 27 alert from the Chicago Police Department.

Authorities later confirmed that he was captured on surveillance footage on Nov. 26 around 3 p.m. on Old Western Avenue in Blue Island, Ill., and then again at St. Donatus Church on South Union Street at about 6:30 p.m.

Since Dan’s disappearance, his family and the broader community have been tirelessly searching for him, putting up flyers, sharing alerts online and combing the area for any sign of him.

The video footage has deeply worried his daughter, who told WMAQ that her father is a creature of habit with no known medical conditions.

“He’s walking a bit crooked and seems confused,” she said.

On Monday, 115 Bourbon Street announced a candlelight vigil in Dan’s honor, scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 9, to be followed by a community search party.

“Come pray with us to bring Dan home,” the business said in its announcement. “There is power in standing together as a community. Your prayers, your presence, and your eyes on the ground matter more than ever.”
