Sean Charles Dunn was arrested in Washington, D.C., after he threw a sandwich at a federal officer and shouted insults.
The incident happened Sunday night near The Wharf, where members of the DEA, federal agents, and local police were patrolling. They were there following President Donald Trump’s recent order to put the Metropolitan Police Department under federal control and send in the National Guard to help reduce crime in the nation’s capital.
According to court records obtained by The Independent, Dunn confronted a group of law enforcement officers, including Customs and Border Protection Agent Gregory Lairmore. He yelled, “F*** you!” and called them “fascists,” demanding they leave the city. Witnesses say he continued shouting for several minutes, then crossed the street before returning and throwing a “sub-style” sandwich at Lairmore.
Police say Dunn tried to run but was caught quickly. “I did it. Threw a sandwich,” he admitted, according to the arrest documents. He is now facing charges of assaulting, obstructing, or resisting U.S. officials.
The arrest came just one day before President Trump’s announcement of the federal takeover of D.C.’s police force. He said the move was needed to “rescue our nation’s capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor.” The National Guard began patrolling Tuesday night, with 100 to 200 troops on duty at any time and up to 800 expected overall.
The Trump administration says at least 66 people have been arrested since the federal takeover began.
