President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump appeared deep in conversation as Marine One touched down on the White House South Lawn Tuesday night.
Sky News captured the couple seated across from each other aboard the president’s helicopter following their Sept. 23 trip to the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.
In the video, Melania, 55, gestures toward Donald, 79, shaking her head before he interrupts with a pointed finger. After their discussion, the Trumps exited Marine One and strolled hand-in-hand across the South Lawn, with the president waving to reporters.
The couple’s New York visit was not without its hiccups. Before Donald’s address at the U.N., he and Melania stepped onto an escalator that suddenly froze, forcing them to walk up the steps—a moment quickly labeled “sabotage” by conservative media. Fox News’ Jesse Watters even suggested that the U.N. building be demolished for making the president look bad.

A U.N. spokesperson later clarified that the escalator stopped because a videographer from the American delegation accidentally triggered its mechanism.
Shortly after, the president’s teleprompter experienced a glitch, causing him to pause for around 15 seconds while joking about the staffer operating it. “I can only say that whoever’s operating this teleprompter is in big trouble,” he remarked.
The president then turned his focus to global issues, sharply criticizing immigration policies. “I’m really good at this stuff,” Donald declared. “Your countries are going to hell.” He challenged European leaders for accepting immigrants “to be nice” and warned that ignoring people “you have nothing in common with” would lead to national failure.
Donald also criticized the U.N. itself during his remarks at its 80th session. “What is the point of the United Nations? You do nothing to support the end of war, other than write a pathetic letter or two, which does nothing,” he said. “Empty words don’t solve wars… A bad escalator and a bad teleprompter is all I got from the United Nations.”

Meanwhile, Melania used the visit to unveil her own initiative. Her project, “Fostering the Future Together,” is described as “a global coalition of nations committed to enhancing the well-being of children through the promotion of education, innovation, and technology.” The coalition, made up of spouses of heads of government, plans to hold its first meeting at the White House in early 2026.
The Marine One conversation comes four months after Donald offered playful advice to French President Emmanuel Macron on keeping private moments private. During a May 25 visit in Vietnam, the Macrons had a viral moment when Brigitte appeared to push her husband’s face before they exited their plane. Donald later joked to reporters that world leaders should “make sure the door remains closed.”
