Donald Trump was seen in public for the first time after rumors about his death went viral.

The 79-year-old former president was photographed getting into a motorcade with his grandchildren Kai Trump, 18, and Spencer Trump, 12, on the south lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, Aug. 30, before a family golf trip.

This appearance came after “Trump Is Dead” and “Where Is Trump?” trended on X on Friday, Aug. 29, following recent comments from J.D. Vance about Trump’s health.

In an interview with USA Today, Vance, 41, said he was prepared to step in if anything happened to the president, which caused some concern.

“Yes, terrible tragedies happen. But I feel very confident the President of the United States is in good shape, is going to serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people,” Vance told the outlet.

“And if, God forbid, there’s a terrible tragedy, I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve gotten over the last 200 days,” he added.

During his family golf outing, Trump wore a white polo shirt with black pants and a red “Make America Great Again” hat. His motorcade arrived at the Trump National golf course in Sterling, Virginia, shortly after 9 a.m. local time.

Concerns about Trump’s health had been raised earlier in the week when photos showed a bruise on his hand. After questions from the media, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the bruising came from Trump “shaking hands all day, every day.”

White House physician Sean Barbarella shared a note in July explaining that the bruising was “consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin, which is taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen.”

Trump was also diagnosed in July with chronic venous insufficiency after appearing with swollen ankles. Barbarella described it as a “benign and common condition, particularly in individuals over the age of 70.” He added that despite the diagnosis, Trump “remains in excellent health.”
