A Florida school board official is under fire after making inflammatory comments on social media celebrating the death of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, calling it “one less MAGA in the world.”

Sarah Rockwell, chair of the Alachua County School Board, sparked outrage after posting a now-deleted comment on Facebook Thursday in response to the news of Hogan’s passing.

“Oh did Hulk die? I didn’t even know. Good. One less MAGA in the world,” Rockwell wrote.

In a follow-up remark, she added, “[H]e worked with the McMahons to union bust professional wrestling. [H]e’s never been a good guy. I feel absolutely nothing about his death.”

Backlash and Apology

The comments quickly circulated across social media, prompting fierce criticism and calls for Rockwell’s resignation. In response, she issued a public apology Saturday via her official school board Facebook page.

“A few days ago, I made a cruel and flippant comment from my personal Facebook account on a friend’s post regarding the death of Hulk Hogan,” she wrote. “I deeply regret making that comment and have since removed it.”

“I want to make it very clear that I never have and never will wish harm on anyone regardless of whether we share political views,” she continued. “While I strongly disagree with some of the comments Hulk Hogan made, that is no excuse for my comment.”

Rockwell went on to acknowledge the damage her remarks had caused to her reputation and leadership. “I sincerely apologize for the way my comment has eroded confidence in my ability to represent all students, families, and staff in Alachua County,” she said. “I will continue to do the hard work of putting our children and schools first. I hope that I can earn back your trust.”

Controversy Amid National Spotlight on Hogan

The incident occurred just days after Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, died of cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida, at age 71. The wrestling icon was a six-time WWE Champion, a two-time Royal Rumble winner, and a double WWE Hall of Fame inductee.

Hogan made headlines last year when he appeared at the 2024 Republican National Convention and endorsed President Donald Trump by tearing off his shirt to reveal a “Trump Vance Make America Great Again” tank top, referencing Senator J.D. Vance, now Trump’s running mate.

Fox News Digital reached out to both Rockwell and Alachua County Public Schools for comment but has not yet received a response.
