Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted adult offender linked to Jeffrey Epstein, has been relocated from a Florida prison to a lower-security facility in Texas, significantly closer to her family.

The transfer reportedly followed two days of discussions with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche—Donald Trump’s former personal attorney—as well as a formal request for a presidential pardon.

“We can confirm, Ghislaine Maxwell is in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) at the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Bryan in Bryan, Texas,” a BOP spokesperson said.

The development was anticipated earlier this week by investigative journalist Julie K. Brown during an appearance on The Daily Beast Podcast, where she noted Maxwell might soon be moved out of her Florida prison.

“I think they’re gonna move her out of the prison that she’s in in Florida,” Brown told host Joanna Coles. “I’m sure that there’s some concern or at least on her part of her safety because she’s, you know, she’s really in the news right now and she believes that Epstein was murdered. Whether you agree with that or not, I’m sure she has some safety concerns.”

The deal marks a notable shift in Maxwell’s incarceration conditions on two fronts.

First, she’s been transferred to a minimum-security facility—the least restrictive classification in the federal system—offering more lenient conditions than the low-security prison where she was previously held.

Second, the new location brings her significantly closer to her family. Public records show her sister Christine Maxwell, 74, and Christine’s husband, Roger Malina, maintain an apartment in Dallas, approximately a three-hour drive from the Bryan, Texas, prison. Additionally, records indicate that Christine’s twin sister, Isabel, has also spent time at the Texas residence while maintaining a separate address in Sausalito, California.

The new facility in Bryan is known for its dormitory-style accommodations and has also housed high-profile inmates such as Elizabeth Holmes and Jen Shah.

Amenities at the prison include a library, arts and crafts classes, video conferencing with family, and access to technical training programs.

Maxwell’s transfer comes at a time when she appears to be leveraging increasing pressure on President Trump to release sealed information related to the Epstein investigation.

Many in the MAGA movement have criticized the administration’s decision to close the investigation into the government’s Epstein files.

Maxwell participated in an eight-hour interview with Justice Department officials, during which she reportedly discussed over 100 individuals connected to Epstein. The interview was described as part of an effort by the Trump administration to address public outrage over the case.

Following the interview, her legal team formally signaled her intent to seek a presidential pardon. She has also petitioned Congress for support, offering to testify in exchange for clemency.

Neither the White House nor the Justice Department responded to requests for comment regarding her relocation.

As for President Trump, he hasn’t ruled out granting Maxwell a pardon. When asked about it last week, he said he hadn’t “thought about a pardon,” but acknowledged it was within his authority.

Back in July 2020, when Maxwell faced federal adult trafficking charges, Trump remarked, “I wish her well.”

“I’ve met her numerous times over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach, and I guess they lived in Palm Beach,” Trump said. “But I wish her well, whatever it is.”

Trump has faced renewed criticism in recent weeks over his historic ties to Epstein. The two men were once frequently photographed together during the 1990s and early 2000s.

In 2024, The Daily Beast exclusively released audio tapes from 2017 in which Epstein described Trump as his “closest friend.”
