What was meant to be a pampering session for several dogs turned into a nightmare, as a disturbing case of animal abuse has emerged from a pet grooming facility in North Carolina. The groomer at the center of the controversy is now facing felony charges after being caught on video mistreating multiple dogs under her care.

Police confirmed that 28-year-old Kirsten Rhea Taylor of Mooresville was arrested last Thursday following the release of alarming footage that captured her physically assaulting dogs at a business called Classy Critters.

The investigation was launched on July 18, when a coworker submitted video evidence to authorities. In the footage, Taylor is reportedly seen slapping, pushing, slamming, and punching dogs while working. The acts, which have been described as cruel and inhumane, have outraged both pet owners and the wider community.

Felony Charges Filed as Business Owner Responds

Following the public outcry and review of the video, Taylor has been charged with four felony counts of animal cruelty. She was booked and held on a $10,000 bail, according to police reports.

In response to the backlash, Pam, the owner of Classy Critters, issued a public statement via Facebook. She confirmed that Taylor had been immediately terminated and emphasized that such behavior has no place at her business.

“Hi I am Pam owner of Classy Critters. I am here to address the video that is going around on social media. This behavior is totally unacceptable, and it was addressed immediately this employee no longer works at Classy Critters. I have zero tolerance for any type of abuse with the animals in my care. I have made this clear with my employees. This has been my life mission for over 40 years and I absolutely love what I do, I love and care deeply for all of them and it breaks my heart that this happened.

I hope that the actions of one bad egg does not reflect on Classy Critters and the entire staff. We give a 120% every day to love and care for all the pets. I have always had a 5 star review until this happened and the majority of the dogs coming here they get so excited before they even make it to the parking lot and can not wait to get in the door, we love it. She has been reported to the Animal control and sheriffs office. I do thank everyone for all your concerns and just want to let you know this has been addressed.”

Outrage Grows as Pet Owners Demand Accountability

Despite the statement, public outrage continues to grow. One distraught pet owner even visited Classy Critters in person, demanding an explanation and confronting staff members over the trauma her dog endured. A video of the confrontation has since gone viral, capturing the emotional fallout firsthand.

Calls for the business to be permanently closed have gained momentum, with many also urging lawmakers to implement stricter regulations and oversight for pet groomers and animal care facilities.
