Federal authorities say they are not aware of any continued communication between the family of an 84-year-old Arizona woman and those believed to be responsible for her disappearance, as a ransom deadline connected to the case has passed.
The woman was taken from her home in Tucson on the night of Jan. 31, according to investigators. She remains missing, and officials say the inquiry has expanded into a large, multi-agency operation.
Investigators previously confirmed that messages claiming to be from the abductors demanded payment in cryptocurrency, with escalating deadlines. The final deadline, which called for a larger sum, passed Monday evening. Authorities have not disclosed whether any payment was made and declined to provide further detail on that point.
An FBI spokesperson said there has been no known follow-up contact between the family and unidentified suspects since the deadline expired. The spokesperson added that agents, analysts, and crisis-management specialists are continuing to work around the clock, with personnel deployed from outside Arizona to support the investigation.

Local officials say the woman was last seen after returning home from dinner with family members. When she did not appear at church the following day, relatives reported her missing. The Pima County Sheriff later said evidence collected at the residence, including blood found near the porch, was consistent with her DNA and led investigators to believe she was taken against her will.
As of Monday, authorities said no suspect or person of interest had been publicly identified. Investigators have also warned about false or misleading tips, noting that at least one person was arrested in connection with sending a fake message related to the case. Officials have urged the public not to interfere or attempt to exploit the situation.
The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information that helps locate the missing woman or leads to an arrest. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact federal or local law enforcement.
