Zachery Ty Bryan has been arrested for the sixth time in five years.
The Home Improvement alum, 44, was taken into custody in Eugene, Ore., on Saturday, Nov. 29, for allegedly violating the terms of his probation stemming from a prior domestic violence conviction, according to jail records.
Bryan is currently being held without bail at the Lane County Jail and is scheduled for release on Wednesday, Dec. 3, per those records.
His fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, was also arrested and booked into the same facility. She faces five charges, including one count of driving under the influence, three counts of reckless endangering and one count of attempted first-degree assault, according to the jail records. Cartwright remained in custody as of Sunday, Nov. 30.

It is not clear whether Bryan or Cartwright have legal representation to speak on their behalf.
Bryan’s most recent prior arrest occurred in January, when he was taken into custody by Myrtle Beach police in South Carolina on a charge of second-degree domestic violence.
In a police report, the arresting officer wrote that a woman involved in the incident “stated that she was assaulted” by Bryan and that the two “live together and have children in common.” She alleged that Bryan “choked her and punched her in the face multiple times,” adding that there were “others” present “inside the home during the incident.”
The woman he allegedly strangled was Cartwright, with whom he shares three children: daughter Kennedy and twins Parker and Sequoia.
In 2024, Bryan was arrested twice on DUI-related charges — once in February and again in October.
The year before, he was charged with fourth-degree felony assault, third-degree robbery and misdemeanor harassment. He later pleaded guilty to felony assault in the fourth degree constituting domestic violence, according to Lane County’s chief deputy district attorney Chris Parosa. Bryan was sentenced to seven days in jail.

Parosa explained that a second count was dismissed as part of a negotiated resolution. Rather than serving an expected 19 to 20 months behind bars, Bryan received a downward dispositional departure to 36 months of supervised probation, seven days in jail, standard domestic violence conditions and an order barring contact with the victim without approval from his probation officer.
Bryan’s probation is not set to expire until October 2026, local outlet KEZI reported.
In 2020, Bryan was arrested for allegedly strangling his then-girlfriend at a home in Oregon. He later pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor domestic violence charges and was sentenced to 36 months of probation.
Cartwright publicly supported Bryan in 2023, saying she would “always want what’s best for the father of my children.”
“Trauma can bring struggles in many shapes and forms. It’s a horrible situation that’s going to be spun in so many ways. I’ve learned firsthand the truth will never align with what’s been put out there,” she said in a statement to Us Weekly. “I ask everyone to please be respectful of our privacy for the sake of the children and our families so the healing process can begin.”
Bryan rose to fame playing Brad Taylor across all eight seasons of Home Improvement, starring alongside Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson. His other credits include appearances on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Boston Public, Center of the Universe and Veronica Mars, as well as the 2006 film The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
In a 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bryan reflected that it “was actually really difficult” to find stability in his career after the ABC sitcom ended in 1999.
