U.S. Vice President JD Vance is reportedly preparing to travel to the UK next month for a family vacation in the scenic Cotswolds — but activists say they’re planning to disrupt his trip.

Vance, along with his wife Usha and their three children, is expected to arrive in mid-August and spend time at a countryside cottage in the Cotswolds before heading north to Scotland for five days, according to The Telegraph. The trip comes ahead of President Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK from September 17 to 19, during which he is scheduled to stay at Windsor Castle and visit Turnberry and Aberdeen in Scotland.

Known for its rolling hills, quaint villages, and celebrity appeal, the Cotswolds draws nearly 38 million visitors each year and is often compared to New York’s Hamptons. British icons such as David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, and Hugh Grant have homes in the area, while American stars like Beyoncé and Taylor Swift have vacationed there. Weekly rentals in the region can range from $900 to over $3,000, according to Country Living.

Although Vance’s itinerary remains tentative, his planned visit has already sparked backlash.

Protesters Target Vance’s Holiday Plans

Activist groups, including the Stop Trump Coalition, have issued warnings that Vance will be met with demonstrations during his visit.

“JD Vance is every bit as unwelcome in the UK as Donald Trump,” the group said in a statement. “We are meeting Trump with protests in Aberdeen and Edinburgh this month, and then in London and Windsor in September. Vance will find the resistance waiting.”

The group referenced a previous incident in which Vance cut short a ski trip in Vermont earlier this year after being angered by protestors. More recently, he and his family were heckled during a visit to Disneyland in California.

In March, Vance was also confronted by a large crowd of pro-Ukraine demonstrators during a Vermont vacation, prompting his family to quietly relocate for security reasons.

Whether or not the planned UK trip proceeds, Vance appears poised to face continued public pushback as opposition to the Trump administration follows him overseas.
