A Sky News presenter had an unplanned slip of the tongue during a live segment — and the studio’s reaction said it all.
On Dec. 20, arts and entertainment correspondent Katie Spencer was talking about author David Walliams when she stumbled mid-sentence and, in frustration, swore on air — seemingly without realizing she was live.
“He published his very first book with Harper Collins back in 2008, The Boy in the Dress,” Spencer began, before losing her place, according to a clip shared by The Independent. “He’s gone on to publish a further … more than 14 … Oh f— it, I’m going to start again.”
Moments later, Spencer shifted in her chair and looked toward the camera, adding: “Sorry, do not ever air me saying the F-word.”
As she tried to restart, the broadcast cut back to the main studio, where Kamali Melbourne, Anna Jones and sports presenter Jacquie Beltrao appeared visibly taken aback.

“Apologies if you heard any bad language there, we’ll check that out,” Melbourne said after a brief pause, his expression switching between disbelief and amusement as he looked to his co-anchors.
He then turned to Beltrao with a joking warning: “But Jacquie’s joined us — no bad language, Jacs.” Beltrao laughed back: “No bad language from me!”
Online, viewers quickly seized on the moment — especially Spencer’s immediate request that it never be aired — with many joking that it was already far too late. One user on X wrote, “The face on the bloke at the desk …. PRICELESS,” adding, “The perils of live TV.”
Another posted a GIF of someone covering their mouth in shock alongside the caption: “Swearing doesn’t bother me, but when you hear a reporter on #SkyNews drop the F-bomb before 8am…”
