Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods Get Engaged After 5 Years of Dating

Karl-Anthony Towns is closing out Christmas with a major milestone.

After the New York Knicks edged the Cleveland Cavaliers 126-124 at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks star, 30, and Jordyn Woods, 28, shared that they’re engaged on Thursday, Dec. 25. The couple has been together for five years.

“Marry Christmas 🎄❤️💍,” they wrote in a joint Instagram post, showing Towns proposing at Overstory, a rooftop bar in New York City.

The photos captured Woods in a white fuzzy coat over a white dress, her hair pulled back into a sleek ponytail. Towns wore a suede coat with black pants.

Though they’d known each other for years through mutual connections, their relationship shifted in 2020. They began dating that year and made it Instagram official that September. Since then, they’ve spoken openly about how their bond has grown — and how it helped them through difficult moments, including the death of Towns’ mother, Jacqueline, in April 2020.

“Me and Jordyn met years ago knowing common people and just became friends,” Towns said during an anniversary episode of Woods’ Instagram series Regular-ish. “And ever since then, our relationship grew where we became more than friends. I’m not saying in that way, but just best friends. And then we started having a deeper relationship.”

He added that the uncertainty and isolation of the COVID period pushed them to be honest about what they wanted. “It just so happened, the COVID came and kind of brought its challenges and it kind of forced us to either pick where our relationship was going to go as friends or something more,” he said. “And we chose the latter.”

Woods agreed, describing the relationship as rooted in familiarity and trust. “I think it’s kind of cool dating your best friend. We know each other. We know each other’s hearts,” she said. “We know each other on good days and bad days and we’ve been through a lot of bad days together.”

The pair marked their fourth anniversary in May 2024, and Woods even wrote a song for Towns titled “Be with You.”

“’Cause all I want to do is be with you, be with you, be with you,” she sings in the chorus.

In a past interview in November 2023, Woods credited their foundation to the fact that they were close friends first.

“Friendship and trust,” she said. “We were really good friends before we started dating, and COVID gave us that free time in our life to really get to know each other, because a lot of people don’t really get to know each other and they go into this relationship.”

“So, we’ve been through a lot together,” she added. “We’ve seen each other at all different ways, times, phases, so I think we have a very strong foundation.”

Woods has also said “quality time” matters — and that she tries to show up for as many of Towns’ NBA games as she can.

Towns has also highlighted how much Woods’ support means to him, especially her willingness to step into and understand his basketball world.

“It means a lot,” he said of her commitment, noting that her support “on a daily basis” — whether related to basketball or not — “is truly special to me.”

He added: “You know, with my mom and my sister, I’ve seen the impact that good women have on men’s lives, and I’m just blessed that I saw that firsthand before I got with Jordyn so that I could learn to appreciate her.”
