A woman who identified herself as a labor and delivery nurse and posted a video expressing hope that White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt would suffer severe physical trauma during childbirth is no longer employed, according to a statement provided to Newsweek by Baptist Health South Florida.

“The comments made in a social media video by a nurse at one of our facilities do not reflect our values or the standards we expect of health care professionals,” the health system said. “Following a prompt review, the individual is no longer employed by our health system.”

Why It Matters

Leavitt recently announced she is pregnant with her second child, a baby girl, sharing on Instagram that she is due in May.

“My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother. My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth,” Leavitt wrote. “I am also extremely grateful to President Trump and our Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro-family environment in the White House. 2026 is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!”

What To Know

An X user shared a video Thursday in which a woman says she is a labor and delivery nurse and makes a graphic statement wishing Leavitt would experience a serious childbirth injury. The clip sparked widespread backlash online.

The post was later reposted by Republican Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer, who said he contacted hospital leadership and was told the individual was no longer employed.

The reposted claim identified the woman as Lexie Lawler and alleged she worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital. A LinkedIn profile under that name lists an obstetrics and gynecology nursing role at the same facility.

Florida Department of Health records indicate an Alexis Lawler received a nursing license in 2014 and that the license is currently active until April.
