A Louisiana woman is under scrutiny after being charged with fraudulently obtaining Medicaid benefits, despite allegedly living a multimillion-dollar lifestyle funded by her thriving home health businesses. Authorities claim her lavish spending included plastic surgery, high-end vehicles, and luxury real estate—all while collecting benefits intended for low-income individuals.

As reported by WWNYTV, Candace Taylor was taken into custody by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation following an alert from the Department of Health regarding suspected Medicaid fraud. Investigators allege Taylor provided false financial information in order to qualify for public assistance, even as her businesses flourished behind the scenes.

Business Booming: $9.5 Million in Revenue While Reporting Just $2K Monthly

According to investigators, Taylor initially applied for Medicaid in May 2019 using the alias “Candace Sailor,” claiming a biweekly income of $1,900 and no dependents. That application was denied. However, she reapplied using inconsistent information—and that’s when the benefits were approved.

Between 2020 and 2024, Taylor’s home health businesses reportedly generated more than $9.5 million in revenue. Despite this, she continued collecting Medicaid and told government officials her income was only $2,000 a month.

Financial records reportedly tell a different story. Investigators found over $480,000 in deposits to her accounts, which included:

  • $45,000 in vehicle payments
  • Cashier’s checks used to buy real estate
  • Expenditures on plastic surgery and fine jewelry
  • A $100,000 wire transfer to an exotic car dealership

In one notable instance, Taylor allegedly placed a $13,000 down payment on a 2022 Lamborghini Urus in 2024. Just two months later, she attempted to reapply for Medicaid—again failing to disclose her business holdings.

Social Media Clues Sparked the Investigation

Authorities say her downfall may have been self-inflicted. According to the investigation, Taylor’s social media activity raised red flags: photos and posts flaunting luxury cars, extravagant purchases, and an affluent lifestyle that sharply contradicted her government aid applications.

Investigators said the timing of her posts closely aligned with her Medicaid filings, making the inconsistencies impossible to overlook.

Taylor now faces multiple felony charges, including misrepresentation, concealing income, and unlawfully receiving government-funded healthcare assistance.
