Luigi Mangione’s holiday meals at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) have come to light as he remains in custody ahead of trial.
The 27-year-old is being held at MDC in connection with the killing of healthcare executive Brian Thompson. Until recently, the facility also held Sean “Diddy” Combs, who has since been moved to Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix in New Jersey.
According to a planned prison food menu obtained by reporters, Mangione’s Christmas Day begins with breakfast service at 6 a.m., featuring fruit, cereal, a “non-breakfast pastry,” and skim milk.
Lunch, typically served at 11 a.m., includes a choice between baked Cornish hen or barbecue tofu. The meal also offers macaroni and cheese or spinach, along with cranberry sauce, a beverage, and either two dinner rolls or a “holiday dessert.”
Dinner, served after the 4 p.m. headcount, is listed as two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with potato chips, whole wheat bread, fruit, and a beverage.
Mangione appeared in court in early December for several days of evidence suppression hearings tied to Thompson’s death. Thompson was fatally shot on a Midtown Manhattan street last year.
Mangione has pleaded not guilty to state and federal murder charges, as well as forgery charges in Pennsylvania. He is expected to go to trial in 2026.
