Figures associated with the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement are weighing in after U.S. President Donald Trump said he supports releasing files tied to Jeffrey Epstein.

In a Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump urged House Republicans to back efforts to make the Epstein records public, insisting that “we have nothing to hide.” Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

The House of Representatives is expected to vote soon on whether to release the full trove of government records related to Epstein. A petition to force the vote cleared the required 218 signatures on Wednesday, and several Republicans are expected to join Democrats in supporting the measure, making passage likely.

Why It Matters

Epstein-related documents have continued to create political headaches for the Trump administration, as lawmakers from both parties demand more transparency and the broader release of materials held by the government.

Trump has repeatedly denied any misconduct in connection with Epstein and has said their relationship deteriorated in the early 2000s. However, on Wednesday, Congress released more than 20,000 pages of Epstein-related documents, some of which referenced Trump. The new material has renewed scrutiny of the president’s past ties to Epstein.

What To Know

Trump had previously dismissed the Epstein files as “a Democratic hoax.” But on Sunday, he shifted course and urged Republicans to join Democrats in voting to release them.

“Some ”members’ of the Republican Party are being ‘used,’ and we can’t let that happen. Let’s start talking about the Republican Party’s Record Setting Achievements, and not fall into the Epstein ‘TRAP,’ which is actually a curse on the Democrats, not us. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he wrote on Truth Social.

He continued: “The House Oversight Committee can have whatever they are legally entitled to, I DON’T CARE! All I do care about is that Republicans get BACK ON POINT.”

Prominent MAGA-aligned accounts quickly echoed his call.

MAGA Voice, an account with 1.3 million followers, posted on X: “BREAKING. President Trump has a message for EVERY House Republican: Vote ‘YES’ and release the Jeffrey Epstein Files. Time to release it ALL. GET IT DONE.”

Andrew Kolvet, a Turning Point USA spokesperson and executive producer of the Charlie Kirk Show, wrote: “BREAKING: President Trump calls on House Republicans ‘to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide…I DON’T CARE. All I care about is Republicans getting BACK ON POINT.’ Good! Let’s expose everything, bring justice, expose the dark deeds, and move on stronger.”

Gunther Eagleman, a political commentator with more than 1.6 million followers, added: “President Trump says… Republicans should release the Epstein files and to investigate all the democrats associated with him. Democrats are now panicking! LOL!!”

Activist Jack Posobiec boosted Trump’s Truth Social post and wrote: “GET THE WORD OUT.”

Others, however, noted Trump’s change in tone. Author Evan Kilgore wrote: “Trump is now saying to release the Epstein Files because he has ‘nothing to hide.’ He’s been saying the Epstein Files are a made up ‘Democrat hoax’ for months. He condemned his base and said we are ‘no longer his supporters’ for wanting answers. This is a s**tshow.”

What People Are Saying

California Democrat Ro Khanna, who co-sponsored the Epstein Files Transparency Act, told Newsweek in a Sunday email: “While there might be pressure from the White House, there is even more pressure from the public. People are sick of our system protecting the Epstein class.”

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Wednesday: “These emails prove absolutely nothing other than the fact that President Trump did nothing wrong.”

What Happens Next

The House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on the measure on Tuesday. If it passes, the legislation will move to the Senate and, if approved there, will then go to the president’s desk.
