A man was arrested for allegedly filming women without their consent in the fitting rooms of a Target store in Thousand Oaks, California.
Jack Crawford, a local resident, was charged with eight counts of invasion of privacy, authorities announced on Friday, Sept. 19. KTLA first reported the news.
Police were called on June 5 after Crawford, 25, was reportedly recording a woman while she was in a fitting room at the Target on the 2700 block of Teller Road in Thousand Oaks.
“The victim observed a cell phone camera over the wall and into the fitting room. The victim yelled out and the cell phone was suddenly pulled back over the wall,” the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
CCTV footage from the store identified Crawford as the person allegedly filming the women. Detectives from the Sexual Assault Unit then obtained a search warrant for Crawford’s cell phone, which was seized and analyzed.
Authorities said Crawford reportedly filmed women in the store on May 12, June 2, and June 5. The VCSO confirmed that there are eight total female victims at this time.
Crawford was booked into the East County Jail on eight counts of invasion of privacy.
