TUCSON, Ariz. — The man at the center of a high-profile SWAT raid in the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie is breaking his silence. Luke Daley, 37, who was detained and released without charges last month, told investigative reporters on Monday that he has “nothing to do” with the suspected abduction of the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie.

Targeted by Social Media “Detectives”

Daley’s Tucson home was the site of a massive law enforcement mobilization on Feb. 13, 2026. Members of a SWAT team executed search warrants at the residence Daley shares with his 77-year-old mother, located approximately two miles from where Nancy Guthrie was last seen.

In an interview with True Crime Arizona, Daley suggested that his inclusion in the investigation was fueled by online speculation rather than forensic evidence.

“I don’t see the resemblance,” Daley said, referring to doorbell camera footage released by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. “Someone says something and then they just go off of it based on no evidence, no truth. I, like everyone else, just want Nancy to come home and be safe.”

Daley’s attorney, Chris Scileppi, confirmed that while his client was the subject of two search warrants, no arrests were made. “Daley has no link whatsoever to Nancy Guthrie and has no information related to her kidnapping,” Scileppi stated.

The Night of the Abduction: A Digital Timeline

Nancy Guthrie vanished from her Tucson home in the early hours of Sunday, Feb. 1. Investigative protocols have allowed authorities to reconstruct a chillingly precise timeline of the moments she disappeared:

  • 1:47 a.m.: Guthrie’s doorbell camera was manually disconnected.
  • 2:12 a.m.: A dark figure was detected moving toward the residence.
  • 2:28 a.m.: Guthrie’s pacemaker disconnected from her smartphone app, marking the last known digital signal from the victim.
  • 2:36 a.m.: Newly unearthed Ring footage from a neighbor 2.5 miles away shows a vehicle speeding through the area, just eight minutes after the pacemaker signal was lost.

FBI Focuses on “Ozark Trail” Lead

The FBI Phoenix office has reinforced its description of the primary suspect: a male, approximately 5’9” to 5’10” tall, with an average build. A critical piece of evidence remains the 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ seen in surveillance footage—a backpack commonly sold at Walmart.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos previously identified the backpack as one of the most significant leads in the month-long investigation. Despite the search of the Daley residence, authorities have not announced the recovery of the backpack or the weapon seen in the footage.

A Massive Reward for Information

As the search approaches the one-month mark, the Guthrie family has intensified efforts to locate Nancy. Savannah Guthrie announced a $1 million reward for information leading to her mother’s recovery. This is in addition to a $100,000 reward offered by the FBI.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department continues to “refocus resources,” urging residents within a two-mile radius of the Guthrie home to review any footage from Jan. 11 and Jan. 31 for suspicious activity.
